Let the Games begin! That's pretty much what we have experienced from China for nearly 3 years :-) As a family, we are enjoying the Beijing Olympics while wondering if they are the cause of the slowdown of International Adoption in China. Perhaps time will tell (if things begin to speed up in a few months) but the truth is, we may never know. The good news is that our God knows why and not only knows, but has placed his stamp of approval on this long wait for not only the Fitzpatrick family, but for many other families longing to see and hold their sweet Asian babies. This is a wonderful place to be in - the center of God's will. We are resting safe in his care and despite some moments of impatience (how could we not!), we are basically all at peace as we wait the joyous moment when we will see our Grace. Along the way, it really is "Grace for Adoption" as we rest in God's grace to allow us to experience the joys ahead.
At this rate (and it can change), we are anticipating an April or May referral with travel to occur in the summer. But like I said, it can change! We still could have a 2 year wait ahead. . but let's not go there just yet! For now, we will bask in the glow of the Olympics and enjoy the wonders on our TV of this incredible country that will grant us the privilege of being parents to one of their own. And we will probably say a few more times, like we did during the opening ceremonies, "Hey! There he is! That's Grace's birth father!"
It's amazing to even consider we will be traveling to this country in the near future and coming home with a little girl who God created just for the Fitzpatricks.
